words of encouragement

It isn't fate that puts on weight--it's food, food, food.

A boiled dinner will make you thinner, but run and hide from one that's fried.

You may have to fight a battle more than once to win it.

Dieting is not a piece of cake.

Inside some of us is a thin person struggling to get out, but they can usually be sedated with a few pieces of chocolate cake.

Progress Not Perfection

No matter who you are, no matter what you do, you absolutely, positively do have the power to change.

Focus on how you will become successful today and forget about the setbacks from yesterday.

The World Cup begins!!

Hi All

The Blog title has nothing to do with the world cup, its just that I couldn't think of another title!!!

Well, this week I was very impressed with everyone weighing in and emailing me without me asking. Everyone except Bev that is!!! tut tut. And with her on her holidays now for a week I don't think I will see her weigh in either!!

Biggest loser this week is Claire - It looks like she has found her form and is finally starting to lose weight consistently - Well done on having a massive 4lb loss, keep it up, or should I say "keep it down" mmm tricky one that.

Elaine and Emma maintained this week, well done to you too

That just leaves Fran and yours truelly, who both gained this week. Only a lb each so nothing to be hung, drawn and quartered over. But mark my words - if we gain again next week there will be trouble!! ha ha

Well food advice, with summer here ish, and BBQs are in abundance this is a time where if we are not careful we will be fully loaded up on carbs - STOP!!! Instead of having burger or sausage barm, just opt for the meat and have salad or even cous cous. Every little helps and at least you are not having to go without.

Alcohol - I have been told that swapping wine, lager or cider for shorts - not cycling or Bermudas - silly!!! I mean vodka will also save you calories, mix with a diet lemonade and your not only reducing calories but you are also keeping hydrated and "shouldn't" have too much of a hangover.

The words "being on a diet" automatically makes you think that you have to starve or cut out all foods unless they are green! This on its own can make you reach for the biscuit barrel. We need to think differently and still allow yourself to have treats and even if its halving the amount you would usually eat, its a start!!

Good luck everyone for this week
