CRACKING RESULT

Well, would you Adam & Eve it, a super dooper week to be had by the only two members that could be bothered to weigh in. But it truth be told, you two are my favourites!!!!! mwah

Claire came home with a 3lb loss, and any other week would have been taking the title home of "the biggest loser". But Emma just beat her to the title, having lost a cracking 4lb - woop woop, get in there!!!!

I had a 2lb gain, but I won't go into that. Will just brush this minor hicup under the table. Ive had a word with myself!!!

Well only 4 more weighs ins left, I either want more pounds to be dropped or if you are happy with your weight then you need to maintain it!!!

Now for the science part - CONCENTRATE!!!
One pound of fat contains 3500 so to lose one pound a week, a person should consume approximately 3500 fewer calories per week. This can be done by reducing the daily intake by 500 calories per day.

If this seems impossible, remember that physical activity also contributes a great deal to weight loss.

Excellent week to be had by the other members of the team

Well done - this makes Elaine and Claire our biggest losers!!!! applause needed

I know I should lead by example - hence why I won't be shouting my weigh in results from the roof tops today. It was a gain and lets just leave it at that!!

Late update WEIGH IN

Hi Ladies

The title says it all, I have missed one blog, and I am really sorry. Claire reminded me, and I'm sure she only reminded me because she was in the running for "the biggest loser"

Not many losers this week, but plenty of maintainers. As I have always said, maintaining is always better that gaining.

I am really sorry, I will not let you down again. I have noticed that me not updating the blog doesn't help you all, as this weeks weigh ins weren't great.

I do have to give a special effort mention to Claire - Yes you are right you do get "The biggest loser" award for last week. Lets see if you can come up with the good this Friday.

Fran - you need to have a serious word with yourself - I hear your pants are getting a bit tight?? Unless you get your act together, it will be elasticated trouser before Christmas!!

Elaine - Still going strong, and I am sure these last few weeks before your holidays you could easily shift another 4 pound. Then you'll weigh the same as me! Come on, you can do it!

Emma - we seem to have lost you again on weigh in days!! The amount of time you spend in that toilet, I don't know how you can forget to weigh in. How many weeks till you see Chrissy??? Have a word with yourself!!!

Bev - Well..... Nowt much I can say there??? Do you wanna be in my gang, my gang, my gang!!

Yours Truly - Brilliant, leading by example!! yada, yada, yada. No, seriously, I do have bad & good weeks and do often need to have a word with myself. And yes, it works!

We are all here & in the same boat, we all have our good days & bad days. But with Christmas coming up its time to take drastic action, especially with all the chocolate that’s probably going to be on offer!!!

I suggest we make a stand - All chocolate should be put in the kitchen, that way we will be less tempted, and those who insist on bringing in chocolates, sweets & biscuits must be told to eat them discreetly & not to offer them out.

Remember, we are "choosing" to not have that chocolate digestive, we are "choosing" to be slim & healthy. After all being healthy is more important!!!

Tips

  • Drink plenty of water with your meals, not only will you feel fuller quicker but water stops your metabolism slowing down
  • Slow down & chew your food more, if you chew more your brain thinks its eating more & psychologically you will, again feel fuller quicker – result!!
  • Iv'e said it before, plan your meals for the full week & apply this to your shopping list. If you only buy what youv'e actually planned to cook & eat there will be no snacks / goodies in the fridge or cupboard to temp you!!!
  • keep hydrated- aim to drink 2-3 litres of water a day, cordial, tea and coffee all count
  • Don’t leave the house without a bottle of water and a few healthy snacks in your bag, then, if you're running late, you always have something to keep hunger at bay
Only 11 more weigh ins till Christmas!! Good luck Vxx

Good Week

Yes the title says it all, it was a jolly good week for all those who bothered to weigh in!!!

You cannot hide forever people, you need to have a word with yourselves and get back on track. You know it makes sense!!!

Only 3 people weighed in today, Elaine, Emma & Myself. Emma being the biggest loser this week, having a 3lb loss this week.

Elaine 1lb loss and myself 2lb.

Theres no excuse for the others, just do it. Get it over with and carry on dieting. I am here to help you in every way I can.

Right, I will start editing some of my older posts and tips to inspire us all.

I think that if we try really hard for the next week or two, sacrifice our Kit Kats & bread, it may just kick start us & give us the lift & confidence we need to continue.

You don’t have to deny yourself your favourite foods- if you crave chocolate, buy the smallest bar you can and limit yourself to a couple of bites, only when you really need it, or feel that you've earned it

We need to think before we make our choices, sometimes we eat for the sake of it or “because it tastes nice”, but we’re not actually hungry. – We are all guilty of that one!!!

Tips

  • Drink plenty of water with your meals, not only will you feel fuller quicker but water stops your metabolism slowing down

  • Slow down & chew your food more, if you chew more your brain thinks its eating more & psychologically you will, again feel fuller quicker – result!!

  • I’ve said it before, plan your meals for the full week & apply this to your shopping list. If you only buy what you’ve actually planned to cook & eat there will be no snacks / goodies in the fridge or cupboard to temp you!!!

  • keep hydrated- aim to drink 2-3 litres of water a day, cordial, tea and coffee all count

  • Don’t leave the house without a bottle of water and a few healthy snacks in your bag, then, if you're running late, you always have something to keep hunger at bay
Ive left you with the best breakfast ever!!! Remember, keeps your hunger locked up till lunch!! Vxxx

Your club needs you

Michelle Fairclough & Beverley Lee!!!! Please come back, we miss you. If you want I can start charging £1 per week again. Anything to get you back on board.

This week was a pretty shocking week for all except 1. Emma storey has decided to put a spurt on for Christmas and start shedding a few pounds. Well done. Not sure whats happened to the rest of us.

Fran and myself had a disastrous week, each putting 2lb on and The Mighty Codd, well... what can I say other than WTF!!! Are you doing this on purpose so you can have he lime light every week??? I remember once when you was my biggest loser. Come on, pull your socks up and wire your jaw - You know I'm joking, right? Love you all to bits really. Now onto Elaine, don't you have a super fab holiday coming up soon???? Didn't you want to lose a stone before you went then you could eat drink and be merry?? One is a little confused as you do not appear to have lost any weight??

I will let you all weigh in tomorrow and then we will need to take drastic action or even make an effort, just for me, to lose some FCUKin weight!!!!! Or I will get angry and you won't like me angry!!
Weight results
Vanessa - 2lb gain :(
Fran - 2lb gain :(
Claire - 3lb gain :O
Elaine - 0lb, maint :(
***Emma - 1lb loss :)

Lots of love

The Fat Controller!!

Lets pull our sox up for Xmas!!!

Well all, I have been updating the record cards, for those who bothered to weigh in that is??.

Burying your heads in the sand will not shed the pounds. Starving or eatting less / healthy and exercise will!!! Be told.

Its not long off to Christmas and we need to get with the programme. So Elaine, there will be no more chippys! Codd, no more boosts! Bev, you just need to find the scales and the rest will come.

Fran, Emma and myself, seem to be doing OK. Frans back on track and is now under the 8st marker. I have managed to lose my holiday weight, although those strawberry tarts were to die of obestity for!!!

Challenge - by the weigh in on 10 September I want us all to have lost at least 5 lb in total. Its not hard if you put your mind to it.

That doesn't mean that you can pig out all week and weigh in heavier thus making it easier to lose it the following week!! I didnt become a gold member of weight watchers for nothing you know!

Good luck to all and if we "all" suceed I will make us strawberry tarts - the final product may differ from the attached photo.... for all of you who aren't aware I class micro chips as cooking!!!!

Lets get dieting!!!!

The Fat Controller Vxxxx

Just a few pics for you to look at. This is Rhiannah and Hannah trying to keep us afloat!

This is the glorious lagoon beach, where we prefered to sun bathe and swim.

Many thanks

Hi All

I just wanted to thank Miche for stepping in and updating the blog - Love the replacement meal advice. I loved it so much that Ive decided to offer Miche a permanent slot on the blog. Even though she only did one post I felt she was an inspiration and its just the help I need after stuffing my face for 10 days on strawberry tarts!! I will add a few pics to the blog - just to make you jealous and pig sick... cos I'm nice like that!!!

Bellys Gonna Get Ya......

Vanessa may be sunning herself on a beach, drinking wine and eating ice creams - JEALOUS moi? hell yeah, but reality is ladies its only 4 months before the Xmas party dress season kicks in. Yep just 17 weeks until we hit December - so there's no room for slacking off, me included.

I'm afraid you've got little ole me to inspire you into keeping on track this week. Yes, Chief cereal eating, soup slugging, running freak is here to guide you. And admittedly yes I too have slipped off track a little recently (beer, pizza and choc ice cream living at home with the folks) and have gained some unwanted poundage around the belly area which simply has to go, so I'm with you all in the mission for the ultimate figure.

PMA - Positive Mental Attitude, this is my mantra and its always worked for me so I will certainly be going back to it. Strength of mind is all you need to achieve anything. When the sweets (Fran) are being handed out - think NO, when the birthday cakes are in the canteen - think NO. By keeping strong in your mind you can refrain from picking up those calorie laden baddies and you can tuck into your healthy tea knowing that youve not indulged during the day.

Now it would be wrong of me not to mention, excercise so can I remind you all that just 30 mins of exercise each day can be beneficial to increase your metabolism and it helps melt the fat. Even those of us that really dont like it, just 30 mins of brisk walking, stair climbing, treat the dog to a walk in the park or dare I say join us for a run on a Tues/Thurs eve.

Not many weighers to report on, so well done to Fran and Claire for braving the scales abeit with 'not' the results you had hoped for, the others will all be expected to weigh in this Friday please - or I will suffer the wrath of Vanessa !!

Action plan for this week - no eating after 7pm in the evening, add some exercise, keep drinking plenty of water, why not try replacing one of your daily meals with a bowl of cereal - you may laugh but it does work and satisfies the carb fix we all crave but with less fat than crisps, bread, pizza!

Happy Grazing.......thats me over and out

Michelle 'The Body' MacFairclough :-P haha

Hello

Hi All

Yes, I mean all of you. Just a quick update before I go on my jollies...

Where was you all on Friday? If my memory serves me right I only had 2 weigh ins. Surely that cannot be right and I apologise if I have missed anyone.

Last time I counted we had 6 members, so where the bloody hell was the other 4? Don't even go there with your - parties holidays etc.... The sooner you get back on the better. I can only help you if you want to be helped!!

Now out of the 2 that weighed in I had 1 gainer and you're truly, leading by example, a loser!!!

Loser of the week goes to ME - having lost 1lb. I was secretly looking forward to Claires weigh in ans I was promised it would be a good one, and if refusing food at work was anything to go off,I was expecting a 6lb loss at least!!!

It can wait till Friday, if you really want to. Although I will not be here to congratulate you :( I may however check in and see how you've all got on - If I can tear myself away from the beach, haha

Well Ladies, must go, got my case to pack. I will try to refrain from gaining too much weight whilst on my hols, but I know that should I gain weight, you will all be there to support me when I get back.

P.S - Whilst I'm away it does not mean you can eat - Kit Kat, boosts, choc lick or Pies, Elaine, Claire or Fran!! :0

Love you all
Vanessa

Holidays are coming!!

Hi All

Yes my holidays are nearly upon us, I have yet to receive a volunteer to post the blogs whilst I am away???? Don't all shout at once!!!

Wonderful week for all dieters, its great to see Elaine and Claire finally starting to lose consistently, Claire being the biggest loser this week, having a loss of 2lbs, you keep going girl, as per your interview live on GMTV - you will soon be in your 14s swim suit!!

Elaine, you're only 12lb away from your goal weight, cut the kitkats and the bread and am sure you'll be there in weeks!!!

Fran and yours truly, have maintained this week, which is no bad feat, considering we are both at our goal weight.

As usual Emma and Bev evaded the scales!!!! weights on Tuesday - no excuses!!!

Good Luck

Vxxx

Monday 5 July 2010

Guess whos back??

Bev is back with a shed load of excuses, in fact, Ive had a few this week, here are a couple :
Struggling so I think if I don't say anything it will go away, I am 9st 3lbs and desperately want to be 8st 12lb - I have just got to get it together, but had alot of social events so its been hard, I have been lucky to keep this weight.

So this is a new week new start !!!!!

been out coz **** back from Ireland :-) so not bad afta weekend away too

I have heard them all, as long as we are all trying its good enough for me, at the end of the day its only yourself you are fooling and no-one else!!!

Well, after finally finding Bev, Emma has decided to go AWOL for a week. I will let her off this week but next week I will be dragging her to them scales for a supervised weigh in!

Good week yet again for all the team, 2 losers and 3 maintainers. Biggest loser of the week goes to Fran, losing 2lb - well done, good to see you back with us again.

I have been head hunted to be a weight loss leader, One of my friends (yes I have friends now) has been following the blog and would like me to hold weekly meetings at the club I run with. I have told them it comes with great responsibility and wouldn't want to let anyone down. Of course they would have to join our blog, I just hope none of you have any objections to it?? I know you will encourage them as you do with each other!!

In a few weeks I will be going on holiday and need someone to record the weigh in and even update the blog - volunteer your services please!!

Also it may be good for a different person each week to do a small feature or even write the blog, as its hard to be this funny all the time, yes even for me!! haha

You don't have to log on. You could email me with what you want on it and Ill post it - simple!!!

El and Codd, no more Nibble and choc lick, I don't count as I am still losing weight! Emma, no pigging out at weekend. Your body cant deal with it and you will retain all the fat you consume over the weekend making your starvation during the week pointless and could lead to diabetes!!! This is you leader talking!

Fran...eerrm keep it up as its working

Bev... just glad to have you back with us!! xxx

Good luck all

Vx

Thursday 1 July 2010

Disaster!!!

Hi All, the title says it all!!!

What are you all playing at? I can't get Bev to weigh in and face up to the reality that shes putting weigh on. Its lot like when you was younger and you shut your eyes to hide!! We can still see you Beverley!!! Six weeks since you last weighed in.

And I don't know what the rest of you are laughing at! hhhmm...

We have been dieting / weight watching for over a year, and some of you are only 1-4lbs lighter, it is because you are happy with your bodies?? I don't think so , or why would you be in the club. I am here to help you, and if that means I have to be cruel to be kind I will do it.

Not sure if you agree with me but we did have more success when I used to charge you all for weighing in?? We could always go back to that, even though it used to annoy me with all the I.O.Us, but it can be arranged if you want. We could pay upfront for the month and then there's no messing about with £1s here and there. Let me know your thoughts.

Right, back to the weigh in, Biggest loser of the week is yours truly with a 1lb loss. Elaine was a maintainer with everyone else gaining, shocking!!!! You all ought to be ashamed of yourselves.

I am prepared to give you 2 weeks to shape up and I want the blog to read very differently after that. Its only 5 months to Christmas..........

Total weight losses so far :
In no particular order
Claire - 3lb - although she assures me she will do really well for this Fridays weigh in!!??

Elaine - 2lb - You better ditch you KitKat chunkys n nibbles if you want to look like Elle MacPherson on your jollies

Beverley - 5lb - although when she finally does weigh in who knows what she will be!!

Emma - 8lb - Well done, you have steadily lost weight and kept it off. Gold Star for you - well maybe a yellow circle as were on a budget and its what ever I can pinch from the stationary cupboard!!

Fran - 7lb - Well done, you too have steadily lost weight, just watch out as I have noticed the stats have shown you gaining over the last couple of weeks. But you deserve a yellow circle too!

Last but not least - your leader... drum roll......
Vanessa - 1st 5lb - Well what can I say, Genius!!!! 2 yellow circles and a blue peter badge for me!!!!

I will provide you with your weight loss certificates shortly to mount and frame!!!

Good luck for the next weigh in, love you all

Thursday 24 June 2010

Miche, Coddy and Yours truly - How many chins do I want?? That's just greedy!!!!

Another one from April 2008, Not one of my better days, but I have learned from it!!!!

This was taken at Naomis in April 2008!!!

At last

I am sooo happy!!! Its great to see more followers and its only been how long since Ive been asking you all to sign up - you don't know how much it means to me to know that I'm not alone - tissues ready!!

With summer here its harder to hide from the cocktails and ice lollies - so embrace them! a little bit of what you fancy does you good, no, don't worry, I'm not going to be hiding round the corner with a camera ready to snap you in the act and post on line - would I do that to you ladies????

I figured we've all been dieting together for about a year now and we are all quite steady at maintaining our weight within a few pounds each week, so we know what to do and what not to do.

Be aware though - Its only 6 months to Christmas and I have told Sue that I will look at arranging something for us this year and so we will all have to go on a pre xmas shopping spree in a few month to choose an expensive outfit that it a tiny bit smaller than our frames - by spending money it will give us all something to work to If on the other hand we are at our desired weights, the goal will be to keep at that weight. So we all have goals and can help each other.

Another trick is to take a picture of you when you was at a weight you was comfortable with and stick it to the fridge - each time you walk in the kitchen to snack on something you shouldn't, the picture will remind you of how you want to look and stop you!

Stats time:
We have two losers, one gainer and one maintainer!!

Biggest loser for this week is Emma and yours truly, Vanessa - both having lost 1lb each

Biggest loser cert will be on the blog ASAP

Good Luck all

P.S - I uploaded some pics that may inspire you to carry on with you dieting!! enjoy, youll need to look in the older posts!!!!

P.P.S - I don't mean you look like mingers or anything just you look good and to keep it up!!!

P.P.P.S - you know I'm going to upload The Codd Miester from the Xmas do in her emerald green dress when I find it!!!!

Biggest Loser for the week!!!!

Sunday 13 June 2010

The World Cup begins!!

Hi All

The Blog title has nothing to do with the world cup, its just that I couldn't think of another title!!!

Well, this week I was very impressed with everyone weighing in and emailing me without me asking. Everyone except Bev that is!!! tut tut. And with her on her holidays now for a week I don't think I will see her weigh in either!!

Biggest loser this week is Claire - It looks like she has found her form and is finally starting to lose weight consistently - Well done on having a massive 4lb loss, keep it up, or should I say "keep it down" mmm tricky one that.

Elaine and Emma maintained this week, well done to you too

That just leaves Fran and yours truelly, who both gained this week. Only a lb each so nothing to be hung, drawn and quartered over. But mark my words - if we gain again next week there will be trouble!! ha ha

Well food advice, with summer here ish, and BBQs are in abundance this is a time where if we are not careful we will be fully loaded up on carbs - STOP!!! Instead of having burger or sausage barm, just opt for the meat and have salad or even cous cous. Every little helps and at least you are not having to go without.

Alcohol - I have been told that swapping wine, lager or cider for shorts - not cycling or Bermudas - silly!!! I mean vodka will also save you calories, mix with a diet lemonade and your not only reducing calories but you are also keeping hydrated and "shouldn't" have too much of a hangover.

The words "being on a diet" automatically makes you think that you have to starve or cut out all foods unless they are green! This on its own can make you reach for the biscuit barrel. We need to think differently and still allow yourself to have treats and even if its halving the amount you would usually eat, its a start!!

Good luck everyone for this week

Sunday 6 June 2010

We are Back

Hi All

Its been 3 weeks since I last blogged, this was tactical and I thought I would see how long it took for someone to notice that I hadn't blogged.

Emma was the only person to notice, although I am sure others noticed but failed to say anything - yes I'm sure that's what happened!!! mmm??

Well I'm back and with my holiday and others folks holidays not far off I will be in your faces helping you along, questioning everything that passes your lips!! Joy I hear you say... I am enlisting helpers to spy when I am not in your presence to catch you out or to ask you to think about what you put in your mouth. You know I only have your best interests at heart and it is not my goal to shame you or put you down, but if it helps shift the pounds I'm all for it!!! So watch out.

I have been canvassing for a Fat Fighters nite out and have been doing market research. I have found that this will be the best venue for the occasion, see link below.

http://astleyrunners.blogspot.com/2010/05/mark-and-dereks-50th-birthday-5km.html

Print off, fill in and give me your money - I know many of you run on Wednesdays after work so you have no excuse, and tea is included!!!

OK, this weeks weigh ins, pity full, with only three of us weighing in... out of those three, two lost and one gained!

Well done to Fran 1lb loss and Vanessa 3lb loss.

The Mighty Codd, Elaine & Bev - you need to weigh in on your next day in work and email me!!

Good Luck for next weeks weigh in.

Friday 7th Mays weigh in

Hi All

Another cracking week to be had by all, even with the bank holiday we only have 1 member that has put weight on - and even that's not an issue, as she is still on her target weight, so well done to all!!

We have all been working really hard this week to convert other members of staff into healthy eating, or questioning what they shovelling in their mouths. They don't seem to like this interrogation, but am sure will thank us one day??? Aron is now trying to eat only when Emma has gone for a fag or to use her fone - I'm sure you will all agree, he has had plenty of opportunity this week :O Did I just write that? Shame on me!!!

A big thank you to everyone who added fruit to Frans basket, we all found this helpful, especially as we seemed to have cakes in the office every day last week! Positive thinking!!

Now, results -
Biggest loser for this week goes to me, Vanessa - Sorry ladies, I honestly don't know how Ive lost anything this week, with the amount of alcohol and food I'd eaten, I can only think its the swimming and running that I am doing religiously!! See it does work!

Elaine was the only other member who lost weight, she lost 1lb - well done!

Everyone else maintained, and as I said earlier this is a great achievement as it was a bank holiday!

Well done to all, and good luck this week

New Layout

Hi All

Hope you like the new layout - Pink!!! It works for me.

Well that's another bank holiday out of the way, Ive ate like a pig and am dreading weighing in on Friday - so you may need to pin me down for that one. I hope you've all had a good long weekend.

I think this week was the first week we all managed to weigh in on time - well done, I know how hard it can be at times!!

Not a good week this week with three gainers (me included) two maintainers and only one loser.

Well done Emma its good to see you finally back on a losing streak!! I will let you all into a secret, Emma has been trying hard to lose weight over the passed weeks going to extreme measures. Friday finally came around and just as she was going to stand on the scales, she decided to take her diamond encrusted Rolex off - would you believe it.... She only lost 1lb. It all counts. This week I will be taking my rings, watch and earrings off!!!! LOL

Claire was a little upset having maintained. She tried really hard this week and started back and the gym. I told her muscle is heavier that fat and the scales proved this in both mine and Claire's weigh ins.

I ran and swam quite alot last week and although I had gained 2lb my muscle had increased yet my fat had reduced. This was the same in Claire's case. Its all going in the right direction. Please don't give up so easily, carry on with it and you will reap the rewards. Remember "Rome wasn't built in a day" not sure who said that but hey ho!

I have decided to have a break from alcohol until 15th May , I know its not long, 2 weeks in fact, but every little helps. I'm abstaining from alcohol because I have a hard race coming up (Haigh Hall 4 mile) and its going to take all I have to drag myself up the steep hill, so the lighter the better.

My Husband got the new addition of his men's magazine, so I will read through that and get us lots of good healthy tips for next week.

Suggestions :
Does anyone have any suggestions on what to add to the blog, I was thinking of one interview a week with each member and a photo???

Let me know what else you think

I want each of you to email me with your new goal or inspirational message for losing weigh.

Oh and I know I go on but the best breakfast really is poached egg on toast, it really does keep you fuller for longer.... tip, instead of waiting for the pan to boil, fill the kettle up, boil that and pour in!!!

Good Luck for this week,

Vxx

Bevs programmed in!!

Just to update you all, Bev is finally programmed in on the scales!!! Happy days Bev and welcome to the world of fancy technology - I will give you the instruction book so you can read up on how to work them!! As a few dieters are finding them hard to use!!

22nd Aprils Weigh in

Hello Ladies,

Another good week to be had by all. Not one of us has gained weight. We have two losers and the rest are maintainers!!

I put this down to team work and everyone looking out for each other, unless you can unwrap a Terrys chocolate Orange in your pocket, then you've got no chance of cheating - In the office that is!!!!

As well as the usual Fat Fighters we have two more followers, Liz and Clare, both run for Astley and Tyldesley Road Runners, and have said they are loving the blog. Liz says it hilarious??? Not sure whats so funny about starving 24 / 7 ;)

As I am writing this Blog, Fran will be taking to the streets, after not running for a few weeks due to muscle strain, she has decided to put those trainers on and test her muscles! Good luck Fran and no doubt we will have another losers on Friday!!!

Remember its a Bank Holiday weekend, and so we need to try and be extra good this week and lose as much as possible, then we can take our foot off the gas and not have to worry about how many burgers we eat over the weekend - Well maybe I shouldn't put it like that, me being your leader and the person you look upto for support and guidance!!! Anyway, you know what I mean.

Hey, I got spotted on Friday, was in Asda and the lady on the till said "Hi, I didn't recognise you with your hair straight" I just smiled and thought, "who the FCUK, are you???" It turns out, she recognised me off GMTV, its seems I'm some what of a star in my local "village"!!

Back to the nitty gritty :
Biggest losers for this week are Claire and Vanessa, both losing 2lb each - Will email your certificates, as still cant work out how to attach them - shocking as it may seem, I'm not good at everything!! ;)

I need to apologise to Bev, again, for still not programming her in on the new scales, Ive let you down and promise to "sort the job" this week.

Now the BBQ season is here I thought I'd attach some food for thought - click the links, but make sure you have a tissue to wipe your mouth!!

New Scales

Hi All

First of all I would like to welcome Elaine back to the club. Elaine has decided to get back on the wagon in preparation for her holidays. Personally I think it was because she saw the new scales and thought to herself "I want a bit of that"!!

Onto the new scales - a marvellous set of scales, not only can you weigh yourself, but they also tell you how much fat, muscle and water you have!!! Genius, and if that wasn't enough, it tells you what your BMI is!!! I'm sure Ive caught a few people sneaking into the toilets to try them out. But unless your programmed in, they don't work - haha

Scale programme:
1 = Vanessa
2 = Codd Meister
3 = Fran
4 = Bev
5 = Emma
6 = Elaine

We have 12 programmes available, so Miche, its there waiting for you, should you want to join us again - We all miss you. And if you join there will be less people bringing chocolate into the office to tempt us.

Now, back to the scales report and weigh in. I know some of us didn't like getting on the new scales, but they never lie. It highlighted that quite a few of us don't drink enough water. If you don't keep hydrated your metabolism slows down, hence, you won't burn the fat!!

On Monday I want to see your glasses with water / juice in them. Aim for 2 litres per day. What harm can it do??

Last Sunday saw myself and Elaine take part in a 2 mile fun run with our kids, all for fun!! Although from the look on my daughters face, it was anything but! It was a lovely day and we burned a few calories, probably not enough to earn the pasty that we both had :O Fran was meant to be joining us, but is injured at the mo, lets hope she can get back to fitness and running again as it really does help you to shift the pounds!!!

Weigh in results for this week

Either I forgot to write them down or they didn't weigh in - Fran and Bev, if you could give me your weights on Monday.

Elaine is off to a good start having lost 1lb, I also lost 1lb, Emma and Claire maintained, let hope they can start to lose again!! I have got a weight loss certificate, but for some reason it won't upload to the blog?? Will have to get IT on to it - Although its probably "not our fault" I will attach on email for the lucky losers!!!

Good luck to everyone for this week. If anyone has any suggestions for team outing etc... let me know - better still sign up to the blog and I am sure you can post comments, how many times do you need telling!!!

Good Luck Vxxxx

WE HAVE A FOLLOWER

OMG!!!!! Someone has signed up to follow the blog, its my bloody mother, she is 50 and has only just started to use the computer. If she can do it so can you - you have no excuse - BLOODY SIGN UP TO FOLLOW!!!!

26/03 Weigh in

Ladies, a good week to be had by all!!! With not one of us putting weight on, we've all maintained with exception of "me" who has mysteriously lossed another 1lb, making it 1 stone 3lb up to now. Not sure how much more I want to lose as I am happy with what I have achieved so far, but a few more lbs won't hurt!!!!

I still need £2.50 from Claire, Bev and Emma for the fun run, which is Sunday 11th April, you can bring your friends, kids, dogs etc... We don't mind!!! I propose we all run together and have a laugh, its the taking part that counts. Elaine & I have paid for our kids to run it!! Don't be shy!!

Alert - I have noticed that we have been giving in to temptation lately and there has been chocolate bars, brownies and alsorts of sweets being munched on!!! I am guilty of a little gorging myself. But the scales never lie.

You need to ask yourself "Do I want to lose weight?, or am I not bothered what I look like?" If the answer is the latter, then go ahead and eat! I know we all fall off the wagon at times, but we need to get straight back on it.

Its not just about dieting and losing weight, its also about your mental health. The junk foods may taste nice at the time and give you an instant sugar rush, but soon afterwards you will crash and feel irritable and depressed, symptoms which you then mistake for wanting more - a vicious circle!!!

We I won't go on anymore, I know you all know how it works!!!

Oh, found a really nice healthy salad. Chicken and cous cous salad with sweet chili sauce (you have to buy the sauce separate) its lovely and on offer in Asda for £1 - Bargain!!! Ive been living off them for the majority of this week!!

Good luck for weigh in on Friday. xxxx

Monday 22 March 2010

New Start

With our first week back in the saddle lets hope we can continue to lose weight or in some instances maintain our fantastic figures!!!

I think we need to set ourselves something to aim for, whether it be that bikini for the summer holidays or that dress / outfit for the girlie night out / wedding. We all need to work as a team and help each other in times of weakness.

I am sure Fran will thank Emma for talking her out of that bacon butty mid week - although at the time, it looked as if she wanted to hurl abuse at her.

I still say preparation is the key. Do your menu, you can plan for the whole family and stick to it. Not only will you eat healthier but you will save money on your weekly shop too!!

I will create a weight chart on XL and will plot our weekly / monthly weigh ins.

The biggest loser so far is ME!!! Vanessa, losing 1st 2lb - I cannot say its been easy, but with help from Emma, who has been my conscience and also Glyn, my Husband, who has also decided to get healthy, between them they have made it easier. It is also about making those decisions yourself, to only eat half a bag of chocolate raisins or in some instances not to eat them at all.It is all worth it!!!

Emma has lost 11lb, Fran 10lb, Bev 9lb, Ann 3lb and Claire 1lb. I know Claire won't thank me for disclosing that, but losing anything is better than gaining, and I know that this week when she gets on the scales it will be another loss!!!!

I am hoping to get the new scales this week and them with the rest of the money we can pick some horses to bet on, on the Grand National!!!

I still need Bev, Emma & Claire to sign up for the fun run!! Claire, you can enter Katie too as Elaine has entered Willow!! Its only 2 mile and we can all run together. Like I said, Dawson's pastys are the best!!! You know I wouldn't usually recommend unhealthy food, but after the run, we will all deserve one.

Good Luck for the rest of the week. xxxx

Facts
I have been reading about foods we really should avoid at all costs. Its obvious really but just reading it makes for a shocking find -

Some foods not only have no nutritional value, they also aren't worth the damage they do to your diet. You probably know that giving up certain foods can make you want them even more.

foods that we should be kissing goodbye to :

1. Doughnuts These are true diet busters because it’s loaded with sugar - and then deep-fried. One ring doughnut packs almost 240 calories and 13 grams of fat. Opt for some jaffa cakes or plain biscuits instead. At around 40 cals a pop, your waistline will thank you!

2. Real mayonnaise Thanks to the eggs and oil that comprise this favourite salad spread, just one tablespoon of the real stuff contains 11 grams of fat and 100 calories. The reduced-calorie version has half the calories and half the fat but you can go lighter still by spreading mustards, relishes, horseradish and low fat salad dressings on your sandwich.

3. Ciabatta Style Pizzas Ciabatta is a type of bread made with olive oil so it’s much higher in fat than your average pizza base. Add to this a topping of cheese and pepperoni and you could be approaching 1000 calories for just one little pizza! Choose thin-based pizzas and avoid stuffed crusts, deep pan style and pepperoni.

4. Hot dogs These bonfire night favourites can get up to 150 of their 180 calories from fat. It makes you wonder whether they qualify as meat at all. The nitrites contained in hot dogs have also been linked to increased rates of cancer in some studies. For a tasty, low-fat replacement, choose grilled veggie sausages or chicken kebabs instead.

5. Fizzy drinks While technically not a food, fizzy drinks are often included among the list of culprits in the nation’s increasing weight problem. With no nutritional value and as many as 12 teaspoons of sugar in each can, most nutritionists see no reason to keep them in your diet. If you can’t give them up, at least choose diet soft drinks, which are calorie free.

6. Cinema popcorn A super-size bag of this snack, typically popped in vegetable oil and doused in butter, is enough to turn your tummy into a double feature! Believe it or not, some sweets are actually less calorie- and fat-laden than popcorn. If you must munch at the movies, opt for liquorice or jellies (stick to one serving)!

7. Bacon Cheeseburgers Anything that combines two forms of meat with full-fat cheese is not likely to be diet friendly. This heart-stopping favourite at Burger King packs a whopping 400 calories and 22 grams of fat. A Bacon McDouble Cheeseburger from McD’s has 478 calories and 24 grams of fat.

A fresh start

Firstly I'd like to thank everyone for doing a collection for my holiday twinkle toes!! The are amazing and I love them. xx

Since GMTV came along we seem to have lost our way with the whole team spirit of losing weight and pulling together. I am also to blame as I have been really busy with my holidays and also plannng my mums, not so suprise 50th birthday!!! I promise to give you all my undevided attention from now on.

I have decided that we are not going to pay £1 per week, as this is too much for me to keep upto date, therefore I will buy some scale with the £20.00 kitty that we already had spare from last year and the remainder, which won't be much to save until Grand National day and we can put on a few horses. Let me know if you have any objections to this.

I have made us sheets for our weight loss cards and I want us to continue with the weight loss, or, for those who have achieved their goal weight to stay within 3lb either way.

If people want to look at their cards and change their target weight if they think its not realistic, then this is fine.

2 MILE FUN RUN
As you know this is on the 11th April and already 3 members of the club have signed up to do this, its only £2.50 and it would be wonderful if you could all sign up to do it. The link for the application form is on the previous post. Just fill it in, give me your money and I will do the rest. We will sort the meeting time out nearer the day. Come on, its only 2 miles, I know all of you are capable of doing it. We will all stick together so no one will be left behind.

Look forward to you all weighing in this Friday and starting again, new members welcome. Will need you to email me with your starting weight and target weight and I will make you a card up. Weigh in will be every Friday and you can email me your weight each week.

Good Luck and lets get cracking again!!!!

Sunday 21 February 2010

Hi All

I remember us all saying that we wanted to take part in a run, see link below. Its a fun run, only 2 mile and will be good warm up for those who are running the race for life at Pennington Flash. At £2.50 its cheaper than a pint and if you run fast enough you will have earned yourself a pie and pint back at the clubhouse after the run!!!

Let me know if your interested, below is the link, print off fill in and give me the forms and cheques / cash, I will taken to the club

Week 5 - Team photo

Hi Ladies,

I hope wev'e all had a good week / Valentines weekend? As you can see, the team photo is now on the blog. I will try to personalise as much as I can, I did mention the before and during pictures fro GMTV, this got me thinking, (Stop!!!! I hear you cry, but sometimes I do have good ideas!) we could have one of our own. Each week I could focus on some one and how well they done, in the hope it will inspire us even more!!!

This weeks stats are as follows :

Only two losers this week, Biggest loser is Elaine, with a 2lb loss!! well done, closely followed by, yours truely, with a 1lb loss. It all counts. We have 4 maintainers, which is also brilliant, as these 4 have either already had a considerable loss, are within their target and so are just kepping it steady.

We do have 2 gainers though, I know Claire is disapointed as she had been going to the gym all week and expected to lose again - Don't give up, give it a few weeks at the gym to kick start your metabolism and you'll be losing again in no time!! Remember, even though you go to the gym, you still have to eat healthily and at the right times, not at 9 O'clock at night!!

Ann is our other gainer, for the second week. I think you may need to relook at what your eatting, and check out the calorie / nutritional info on the pack. Although a veggie burger sounds healthy, I have a feeling there could be hidden fat in it, not forgetting the bread - shock horror. I can almost hear Emma screaming at the computer screen (she has issues with bread, its the devil in Emmas eyes!!) Maybe you should plan your meals even down to the snacks you allow yourself. This way you only buy what you plan to eat and even if your peckish there's nothing you can do about it!! - WORKS FOR ME

My Hubby is on an extreme health kick at the mo and has put together a really simple, quick and healthy evening meal.

Fresh, Rice Noodles, strips of chicken breast and sweet chilli sauce.
Its easy and all done in the same frying pan and then pour the sweet chilli sauce over to coat the noodles - Rice noodles have less carlories that usual egg noodles and taste Dlish!!

For breakfast I am still raving about my 1 toast and poached egg - keeps hunger locked up till lunch and thats a fact!!

I interupt this blog to let you know I have just seen myself on GMTV's weight loss club!! shocking!!!, will post the link then you can have a gander!!!

Anyway, its valentines nite, my Hubby and I have just had a lovely soak in the bath together whilst sipping pink Lanson!!! I shall join him down stairs now for a cuddle!!!

Good luck for Fridays weigh in!! xxx

GMTV update 10/02/2010

Well after my last blog I was inundated with before and after pictures for GMTVs new website - NOT

I emailed mine over to Olly this morning, and was surprised to get a call from a lady asking me questions regarding my weight loss, what I found really helped and also how much more was I wanting to lose. So If I was you I'd be checking the GMTV web site for the pictures below!!!

Just by saying out loud how much youv'e lost can really make you feel good. I hadn't realised how much I'd lost. Although I've lost 6lb since Christmas, Iv'e actually lossed 11lb in total!!! This has now inspired me to try to lose just a few extra pounds in time for my holiday on 3rd March. I will need someone to look after the blog for that weeks weigh ins please - don't be shy!!! You can have a week to shine and be the "Fat Controller".

Oh, team photo has been postponed until Friday - we have a full team in!!!

Still no followers on my blog!!!

GMTV Update 10/02/2010

Saturday 6 February 2010

Aftermath of Blackpool!!! Week 4

Well, Hello ladies!!

Hope you're all enjoying the new blog. Can I ask that you all sign up / follow, so I don't look like a "billy no mates" with no followers!!!!

Well I am sure you have all heard about the possibility of GMTV wanting to do a follow up on our club? If not where have you all been this week??? For the majority it wasn't looking at what passed your lips!! Yes, a bad week for most. Must do better next week ladies. tut, tut

As you know GMTV have asked for our before and after pictures and a short "inspirational" sentence. Come on, get with the programme. Embrace the possible fame element - its something to show your kids & grand kids!! Its not often we get the chance to shine!!!

I am trying really hard to fill the time before getting down to the stats, as they make for pitiful reading :(

We only have two losers this week, two!!!

I am pleased to say its our two dancing princesses, Claire and Vanessa. Claire being the biggest loser, having a loss of 4lb this week!! Well done. Although Vanessa had a loss of 1lb, this was very disappointing to her as she tried really hard to be good!!! I suspect the Large glass of Baileys, oh and the full fruit loaf she took from the works kitchen could possibly of had something to do with her not losing more!!!!!

General feedback was overall disappointment from everyone, but with each came an excuse of why they hadn't lossed anything. Lets hope this is just a bad week on the whole.

TIPS:
When you have a lapse and feel the need to shovel anything and everything in your mouth, just let it be for that period of time and gain the control back, instead of tossing the rest of the day or even week off. This way you are, in your own way showing will power, which in time will grow stronger and stronger. Theres Manya times I would have a bad day and say to myself "oh well, that's that, I will start again on Monday" Each week Monday would come and by Tuesday I was saying them same script, over and over again!!!

Just say to yourself "I am in control of me, not food" Give yourself a goal. Mine is to look slim and fantastic in my bikini on my holiday in 4 weeks!!!!

WHAT I NEED FROM YOU
1) Team photo on Wednesday, no excuses!!
2) your aim / goal / inspirational sentence (not your ideal weight)
3) A picture with you showing a little more poundage than now
4) A new slim recent photo
5) To sign up to the blog, send the link to your friends / family, they can follow it too

Back to the weigh in!!!

Well as you can gather, as we only had two losers, the rest have all gained, with the exception of Michell, who has maintained for the last two weeks and Emma, who has failed to weigh in this week!!

Just to remind people, Em and Claire are on pay as you weigh, whilst the rest still have one more free week!!!

Claire paid up this week, whilst Em will owe £2 when she weighs in on Monday. As I said you can pay weekly or monthly, I do not mind, what evers easiest!!!

GOOD LUCK FOR NEXT WEEK & HAPPY READING!!!! XXXX

A Breakfast treat!! This is for Elaine, as she doesn't like eggs :)

Chocolate Toasties

Have half a grapefruit to start with and then spread two slices of toast with a teaspoon of chocolate spread, tuck in and enjoy.

Why it's good: Half a grapefruit before meals has been shown to help people to feel less hungry and counts as one fruit for the day. As for the toast, if you stick with a teaspoon of chocolate spread per slice of toast, the calories are around the same as having butter or sunflower spread and helps to quell chocolate cravings.

another one to definitely wet your appetite

Sausage and Beans Big Breakfast

Grill a reduced fat sausage (about 100 calories each) and heat through a small can of reduced salt and reduced sugar baked beans. Serve with a large grilled tomato.

Why it's good: Baked beans give you slow release energy and keep blood sugar levels even and steady helping you to feel satisfied and away from the mid-morning biscuits. Baked beans and tomatoes give us the super nutrient lycopene believed to be good for our skin.

High Fibre Cereal Bowl

Choose a high fibre cereal like Oatibix, Weetabix, Bran Flakes or Shredded Wheat. Serve around a 40g portion with about 150ml of skimmed milk and topped with a sliced banana.

Why it's good: The fibre in the cereal is filling along with the protein in the milk both of which help to keep you feeling satisfied in the morning. Bananas give us potassium which is a mineral needed for good blood pressure control and are one of our five a day.

Fat Fighters Ltd Week 3

Well ladies, what an eventful week it’s been.

First of all I’d like to say Happy 40th Birthday to Elaine.

Secondly, with the grand opening of our new website, click on the link below and follow the weekly blog. Also I thought it would be good to add a team picture / individual profiles!! Let me know what you think or if you would like to add anything else to the blog. I will add all our old blogs eventually!

http://fat-fighters-ltd.blogspot.com/

Thirdly, Two of our ladies appeared on GMTV to inspire the nation to dance and lose weight. It started on a cold Friday morning at 5 am, when Claire and Vanessa sped down the motorway to Join Camilla Dallerup (the dancing Queen of Strictly) at the Tower Ballroom in Blackpool.

They said there was a chance that they may want to interview us, but seeing as over 90,000 people signed up to the diet I thought, we had more chance of pi**ing in the wind. Within 10 minutes of arriving I was miked up and ready to rock and roll!!!! We practiced our interview and although I got my words a little mixed up, everything went smoothly. We carried on dancing and then much to Claire’s surprise, they shouted for her!!

I’ve never seen someone look as if they really wanted to ground to open up and swallow them, but not before she killed me first!!

Anyway, Claire was a natural and even made reference to getting in her bikini!! I wish I could say the same for her dancing skills. No co-ordination and the camera man seemed to love it as he crossed to Claire every time she put a foot wrong!!!

I on the other hand, was giving Camilla a run for her money! The sound check man described me as the good looking one – and no, he didn’t have a white stick, although he did look old enough to be my granddad. Still every compliment counts.. Right?

The morning was really good, think on the whole we danced on and off for around two hours, so you can imagine how eager I was to get beck to work and onto those scales. I have asked GMTV for a DVD from the show, and will post online.

Back to the clubs stats

Not many losers this week, but plenty of maintainers. As I’ve always said, maintaining is always better that gaining.

Biggest loser this week is our new recruit – Ann, having lost another 2lbs this week, making 4lb upto now! Ann still ate out for a Sunday lunch and even a curry mid week, the key was to choose sensible options and here’s proof that it works – Well Done!!!

Also well done for “still” keeping off the fags!! Applause

Having lost an impressive 6lb last week, it appears the yo-yo dieter is back, although Vanessa has only put 2lb on, lets hope this is not another slippery slope. Consistency is what we are looking for!!

Although Fran has gained 1lb, she is still within her goal weight, so not to worry too much!!

Maintainers, Emma, Elaine, Michelle, Bev and Claire, good going, although I am sure that due to our appearance on GMTV this will inspire us all to keep going. I will let you into a little secret, Sarah from GMTV did ask if it was OK for her to contact us in a month or so to check on our diet clubs progress. Let’s give her and us something to write about!!

Speaking to Amanda the nutritionist (my new friend from GMTV) I am in agreement that forward planning of meals is the way forward. By doing this, you will only buy what you intend to eat from the supermarket and will not be tempted to snack, as there will be nowt in! Also with forward planning, you will look forward to your meals more. Try it next week and see how you get on.

Good luck.

Subject: Weight loss programme

Hi All
Apologies for the delay in posting our weight Loss news!!!!

Biggest loser for this week is Emma, losing 5lb - well done

Overall Bev & Fran has lost the most weight 6lb each in total so far, closely being chased by "The Codd Meister" how has lost 4lb in total.

A disapointing week for the rest of us as the majority have put on. I blame this on a visit from Genus Suffolk, who very kindly came bearing, not javascript:void(0)just any chocolates & biscuits but M&S chocolates & biscuits.

We need to stay positive & focused ladies!!! Remember those Christmas dresses or skinny jeans you all want to get into!!!!

Good Luck for the rest of this week.

Subject: Weight loss programme

Hi All

I just want to congratulate everyone on their 1st weigh in.

Slimmer of the week is Claire Todd, who lost an impressive 6lb!!!

Michelle was not far behind her with a 5lb loss

Percentage wise Michelle was the biggest loser, losing 3.2% of her body weight - gold star for you!! ;O

You have all been given food trackers, courtesy of Fran & for anyone who may have been disappointed with there weigh in may be wise if they fill the tracker to see where they could be going wrong!!

Again well done everyone & the race is on!!!

Oh yeah, Wine 4 bottles for a tenner if anyone is interested let me know??? Got plenty on site!

Week 8a Weight Loss club

Hi Ladies!!

Well I have to say a brilliant week this week!!!!

The maintainers are finally making a move!!! And as usual the gold members are, again, showing us how its done & yes, are still losing weight!!!!

Not sure how some of us have managed to lose after whats passed our lips, but it all counts - just think how much could have been lost if we really put our minds to it!!!

Of the group, only 2 have put weight on this week, I think both of them are on a "star" week so had it not been for that we could of had a record weight loss week.

I haven't got a bad word to say about anyone. But I still need to know if everyone is up for lunch / tea & drinks on the 5th Dec,

Bev, Elaine, Fran, Miche, Emma & myself are all confirmed that just leaves the Mighty Codd to confirm if shes coming. Fran needs £5 deposit, so will use the weigh in money & what ever is left we can put towards the meal. Elaine has the menu & if you tell her what you like I am sure she will pick you something to eat - as she has done for me!!!!

Biggest losers this week are Elaine & Vanessa having lost 3lb each - round of applause please!!!!

Hey, my best tip of all, I know most of you will have heard me banging on, but this is the new bake well tart or almond slice without the calories, put this combo on your shopping list - flaked almonds & cherry infused raisins - I will have some in my draw & will let you sample them, they are "to die for"!!!! trust me.

links /tips!

How to cheat at dieting - check out the link below

http://www.gm.tv/lifestyle/diet/41333-green-coffee-body-shaping-massage.html

You are more likely to keep to a healthy routine if you have a set goal like a charity bike ride or 10k that you could sign up for with a friend to keep you motivated. Suggestion - On the 1st Sunday of each month there is a 3 mile race at Alexander park, Moss side, its approx £5 & is totally flat & just 3 times round the park. Its a course that Michelle, Bev, Elaine & myself have done before & would be good for us all to go & run it together, give support & encouragement & something to aim to. - Let me know what you think or if you have any other suggestions of other motivational activities we can do. Even a walk up Rivington or anything that gets us out in the fresh air & speeds up our heart rate!!!

Watch out for the saboteurs

The more successful you are, sadly the more others around you will try to sabotage your efforts because they are jealous. So they will call you boring for not going down the pub, rather than going out to for a walk. Resist them and remind yourself who will be happier and healthier. You or them!

Good luck everyone for the week ahead!!!
